The Perfect Baked Sweet Potato

INGREDIENTS

4 sweet potatoes, scrubbed clean
4 tbsp. butter
Kosher salt
Freshly ground black pepper

Serves Up To 4
Scale to Party Size

1 hr Cook Time

COOKING INSTRUCTIONS

Step 1

Preheat oven to 425º. On a baking sheet lined with aluminum foil, prick sweet potatoes all over with a fork.

 

Step 2

Bake until tender, 45 to 50 minutes.

Step 3

Let cool, then split the tops open with a knife and top with a pat of butter.; season with salt and pepper before serving.

MICROWAVE ALTERNATIVE

 

If you’re pressed for time, you can always microwave your sweet potatoes by following these instructions:

​

Wash sweet potato thoroughly, pat dry, and pierce 3-4 times with a fork. Place potato on microwave-safe plate and microwave for 5 minutes, turning halfway through. 

​

If your potato isn’t fork tender after 5 minutes, continue microwaving in 30 second increments. Split potato down the middle, season with salt and pepper and top with a pat of butter.
